263 — The Email

In April, an ocean organization thanked me for my donation. I had given them $8,888 in cryptocurrency. This was not a joke, or it was a very expensive one, depending on how you feel about the ocean.
The email came from their Strategic Giving team. The writer said they noticed my name and mailing address and found them creative. (I am registered in their system as a real donor. They have a Form 8282, which is a tax document. It has my name on it. I am not making this up.) They asked if I would like to stay in touch. They offered to connect in-person or over Zoom.
I replied. Yes, I would like to stay in touch.
That was April 17th.
Their colleague sent the Form 8282. The staying in touch was not included with the Form 8282. I am not sure what I expected.
Somewhere in their files is a document with my name on it, a dollar amount next to it, and a date. The woman who wrote the email said she wanted to learn what inspired the gift. The answer is the ocean. I had it prepared. The Zoom call was not scheduled.
I gave them $8,888. I was going to give them more. I am now unclear on the strategy.
